Young Otter with Cable Tie Around It's Neck.

I've been to Ferry Meadows most mornings this week and captured a few videos and pictures of a young Otter, but today I was lucky enough to get some close up shots and was really saddened to see a black plastic cable tie around it's neck.
I'm pretty certain it's the same otter, so the cable tie has only recently gone around his neck.
The Park and the RSPCA have been notified so I'll update this post when I have news that he has been freed.

Otter Catching Fish at Ferry Meadows Park, Peterborough

I went for my usual Boxing Day walk today and was amazed to see this baby otter fishing! I followed him around Overton Lake for nearly an hour and saw some wonderful sights of him.

There is a family of four swimming around ( I saw a big one last week) so I'll definitely be back to try and get another glimpse of these incredible animals!

Lovely Robin at Ferry Meadows, nr Overton Railway Station, Peterborough

Spotted this little Robin sitting in the bushes, trying to pluck up the courage to take seeds from a patient passer by with seed in his hand. Unfortunately through, the Robin flew away before taking his free breakfast!

    Nene Valley Railway

2 .  Cross the road by the railway station and walk over the railway tracks.
Then follow the path up to the roundabout and bear left.

    3. Cross the road at these traffic lights and then head towards the 'X'.

This is the entrance to the woods:

There's only one path, so just follow it until you reach the end.

This pond is a great place to catch Woodpeckers!

    4.  At the end of the path, turn left.

Look out for this lovely church on your left-hand side.

    5. When you reach these traffic lights, cross the road and head for the 'X' which is Orton Mere.

When you enter Orton Mere, follow the road through to the end of the car park where you'll find the railway crossing.

From here, you have three options back to Ferry Meadows:
1/ Take a left turn before you cross the rail track and follow the signs back to the park.

2/ Go over the rail track and cross the weir bridge then go right up to Thorpe Meadows and then double back:

3/ Go over the rail track and cross the weir bridge and then turn left and follow the lovely river path back into the park and through the Golf Course.
Take a sharp left at the end of the path to cross the big bridge and then follow the signs back into the park.
(This river walk option is very pretty in the Spring/Summer time and is well worth the extra mile! )
